Hi all, Liv Boeree here. I wanted to share this recent "anti-debate" between Daniel Kokotajlo and Dean Ball on AI policy:
Both sides were given the prompt: "Advanced AI is coming. Is it time for the government to step in and regulate? Or is it better left in the hands of the market and tech CEOs?"
After some classical debate, they were then tasked with steelmanning each other's views, red-teaming their own arguments, and finding synthesis and/or novel solutions to the governance problem.
Am keen to hear a) who you found more compelling and b) your thoughts on this format. It's still experimental, so would love to hear any feedback or suggestions on how to improve it.
Also please share any ideas/topics/guests for future Anti-Debates. Doesn't have to be AI, can be any sufficiently important and hotly contested topic that would benefit from this process. Thanks!
