Hi everyone, my name is Aarti. I am a generalist by profession. My introduction to effective altruism was, I must say, through my journey to understand more, to learn more about AI safety and governance. As I have been spending more and more time understanding the implications of AI on humanity — who the different players are, what the challenges are,
What the pros and cons are, what are the existential risks are, and leading voices working in this space to mobilise the different stakeholders and build the field — this deeper digging lead to effective altruism. I have been building my own structural knowledge, both on AI safety and AGI, as well as on effective altruism. I have been doing this through different mediums such as :
- Listening to the 80,000 Hours Podcast
- Reading a book such as Doing Good Better by William MacAskill
I have also enrolled in the introductory course on effective altruism and been applying to the AI safety non technical fellowships and been applying for the jobs with organisations working on AI safety and governance
