tl;dr - The link to the far-UVC intro slides is here. For those who don't yet know, far-UVC is a potential promising intervention for biorisk and pandemic preparedness. 

Blueprint Biosecurity put out a useful blueprint on far-UVC: where the technology stands, what we still need to learn, and what would need to happen for it to become a meaningful part of pandemic preparedness.

I thought the work was important and also somewhat difficult to absorb if you were coming to far-UVC for the first time.

So I tried translating it into something a bit easier to engage with- a ~1 hour introductory lecture and discussion deck on far-UVC.

A few weeks ago, I gave the lecture to around 20 people from my local community. Due to constraints associated with my role, I couldn't invite a larger group, so I kept the session relatively small and closed.

But there's no reason the material itself should stay small or closed :)

What's in the deck

The deck starts from the broader indoor-air problem and then works through:

• Why airborne disease remains a major gap in pandemic preparedness
• What far-UVC is and how it differs from conventional germicidal UV
• Where far-UVC has already been deployed
• What we currently know about potential skin safety
• Ozone and other indoor-air-quality concerns
• Current costs
• What evidence we have for effectiveness
• Blueprint Biosecurity's proposed research and intervention priorities

I also built in discussion questions throughout (on use cases, distribution, risks, mitigations, research gaps, and possible interventions) to make this a more engaging lecture.
