Hi everyone,
So far, Vetted Causes has published two charity reviews, and people have questioned our intentions and criticized us for being anonymous. Based on this I (the founder of Vetted Causes) have decided it’s best to reveal my identity. Previously, I’ve referred to myself as Isaac on this forum, but that was a pseudonym. My real name is Adam Hebert.
When I started Vetted Causes, I wanted to remain anonymous in order to:
- Prevent bias: I want to avoid developing any personal relationships with charities to prevent bias. Being anonymous makes this easier. Additionally, I want evaluations to be judged based on their content, rather than the backgrounds of the people who wrote them.
- Make my intentions clear: If Vetted Causes becomes a highly successful organization and I am not anonymous, I could gain prestige or personal benefits. However, these are not my goals. My sole motivation behind creating Vetted Causes is to direct donations to more effective causes.
While I still believe these are significant advantages of remaining anonymous, I've decided that it is important for me to reveal my identity to our readers. Accordingly, I’ve added a page to our website that includes my name and a brief description of my background.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them below.
Best,
Adam Hebert
