We shared a post here recently arguing that existential AI safety needs an effective social movement. If you read that and found yourself agreeing, or wanting to act on it rather than just discuss it, you may be interested in joining us at PauseCon.
PauseCon is PauseAI's training conference for members and organisers working to prevent the development of unsafe AI. It's built around workshops that prepare current and future organisers to go back to their countries with the skills, confidence and motivation to build local PauseAI groups and run campaigns and events.
Who it's for
If you're concerned about catastrophic AI risk and want to do something about it beyond writing or reading posts, this is for you. We're looking for people willing to commit real time as volunteers. This is a conference designed for people ready to move from discussion or organising.
What to expect
Logistics
The conference will take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, with a panel discussion planned for the morning of Monday 7 September (more details to follow). It will take place in London.
Participation is free, and PauseAI can provide accommodation for three nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) so cost isn't a barrier. We do, however, encourage participants to make a donation if they are able.
Apply by August 21 or learn more on the event page.
