I'm a business ethics professor writing an op-ed about the accountability gap at frontier AI labs to pitch to major news outlets.
Question: How should I try to optimize expected outcome from this intervention? (open to arguments that I should not do it at all).
The main argument (currently): While regulation remains weak, internal accountability to the mission is important. Anthropic's Long-Term Benefit Trust is the best mechanism we have left (faint praise) to hold founders/CEOs to their stated mission. But the Trust's power on the Anthropic board might be effectively surpassed by founder-control as Anthropic IPOs. Anthropic ought to keep the Trust's full powers, and other labs ought to improve the accountability of their CEOs/Founders with similar mechanisms.
