December 10 @ 1pm PST: Working to Close The Immunization Gap (with Varsha Venugopal of Suvita)
Have we ever appreciated the importance of vaccines as much as we do right now? Vaccinations are one of our greatest public health successes to date, saving the lives of 2-3 million children per year. Yet their many benefits are not accessible to everyone.
Suvita has a unique plan based on the research of two Nobel Prize winners to work toward a world in which all children receive their basic immunizations. Varsha Venugopal, co-founder of Suvita, will discuss the organization’s early work in India, which is home to roughly half of the world’s under-vaccinated children (and where one child dies from a vaccine-preventable disease every four minutes). Come join the discussion on this vital work.

You may have heard some buzz about universal basic income, but here is a great chance to get in on the ground floor of actual UBI policy research.
What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of UBI – a government program in which every citizen receives a set amount of money on a regular basis – for different populations? What are some promising ideas related to UBI that aren't quite "universal"? And how can open-source research help address the many uncertainties surrounding UBI?
Max Ghenis (founder of UBI Center) and Nate Golden (research associate) will discuss the organization's early findings, and the effort to inform a robust policy debate on one of the hottest economic topics of our time. He will also attempt to answer your questions.
