This is an original post, I used an LLM for grammatical edits.
Hello, I am a member of the Animal Rights Collective of Chicago. Our group has successfully persuaded multiple local businesses to stop selling fur, and we have participated in broader campaigns that have resulted in fur-free and foie gras–free policies.
I am currently one of three activists being sued by the general manager of a restaurant that serves foie gras. We believe the lawsuit is an attempt to stop us from protesting the restaurant. If efforts like this succeed, they could discourage animal advocates from engaging in lawful, effective activism.
I have legal representation, but I am seeking donations to help pay for an attorney for another activist involved in this case, as well as to build a legal defense fund for additional activists who may face similar lawsuits in the future. Any contribution, will help ensure that advocates can continue speaking out for animals and defending their rights.
I am accepting donations via gofundme: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-activists-fight-protest-order-of-protection?attribution_id=sl:8a8678c2-aab7-4a6e-9782-4bc88496ad59&lang=en_US&ts=1782234888&utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&utm_content=amp20_t1&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link
If anybody here is even considering donating, I would be happy to chat on the phone to discuss.
