I don't know where I first heard these ideas - the second one seems like my own work, and the first one I think I got from Tumblr - but they seemed to dovetail very nicely with my experiences as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Visitors Welcome).

Being raised in that church is what taught me most of my epistemics, I think. It said, in many more words, so I would get the point even in the middle of a mental breakdown, that I shouldn't believe everything I read, see, hear, or remember... but that I should take it as evidence of something underlying.

Anyway, I'm trying to become a 'goodness maximizer'. All the thorny little problems of ethics have, as far as I know, been solved by the Atonement of Jesus the Christ, that Literally Perfect community organizer from Nazareth, and Bethlehem, and (modulo believing him) pre-mortal life.
