Me and @Andrei Cucu are currently enrolled in a seminar where we have to do economics/econometrics research loosely related to economic policy. The level of the report is expected to be around bachelor thesis level, and will be finished in a little less than two months. We are looking to use this opportunity to research something impactful. Therefore, we are seeking guidance from the community, and to potentially offer our services to organizations in the community if they have something that needs to be researched. The topics should be loosely related to policy, so researching something like cause prioritization would not be possible. We are mostly interested in Global Health and Development, but topics from other high-impact cause areas are also considered.
We are specifically looking for:
- Good data that we can use to try to draw causal inference through econometric methods
- We need a solid dataset in order to fulfill the requirements of this assignment, preferably a dataset including a natural experiment or policy change
- Interesting research questions where data might be available in order to do causal inference
- General resources on EA-aligned economics research
- General guidance and tips from experienced researchers
Any tips and relevant information is highly appreciated!
