Hiring: Grants & Operations Associate - Giving What We Can

Help us move tens of millions of dollars a year to the world's most effective charities and have a real impact with your career. We're looking for an exceptional operator to run our grant cycles, support day-to-day operations, and build the systems that will scale us to the next order of magnitude.

Giving What We Can is on a mission to make effective and significant giving a cultural norm. We're working towards a world without extreme poverty, animal suffering, and existential risk. Last year, with around 1 FTE of grants capacity, our team processed over $50M in grants across three currencies and two entities to a range of highly effective charities. That volume is set to grow. As part of our operations team, you'll be the backbone that ensures we can deliver ~$40M per year (and growing) to highly effective charities — running grant cycles accurately, securely, and on time, and shaping the systems that will scale us toward our audacious goal of 1 million pledgers giving $3 billion a year.

We're looking for someone who is:

• An exceptional operator — runs high-stakes processes without errors, reviews their own work carefully, catches problems before they happen
• Highly agentic — a self-starter with good judgement, who knows when speed matters more and when care matters more
• A great communicator — clear and effective, adapts to different stakeholders (internal notes, grantee comms, major donor messages)
• A fast learner who builds systems — picks up new processes and tools quickly, excited by what AI now makes possible
• Excited about our mission — with deep moral ambition

While our ideal candidate brings 2-5 years of operations experience (with grants and/or compliance experience as a bonus), at Giving What We Can we hire for your ability to deliver. What matters are the traits above and your ability to rapidly learn the specifics on the job, including making the most of tools like AI to work better.
