We’re running an experiment. Question links are a relatively new feature. Some of you have been using them on your favorite questions, but we want to see what a dense network of them looks like. Starting tomorrow, February 6, for every Metaculus Cup participant who creates at least one question link, we’ll spin up a metac-bot that forecasts based on their network of question links.

A $5,000 prize pool will be awarded based on how well these bots perform when scored head-to-head with a baseline bot that forecasts using no question links.

How it works

Your job is to create question links. Link questions within the Metaculus Cup Spring 2026 to each other and/or link questions from outside the Cup to Cup questions. You can create and modify links throughout the tournament. Both quality and quantity matter. The sooner you create links, the better: more opportunities for your bot to use them.

All bots are built on the same foundation but each bot is informed by a specific participant's web of connections. Your bot forecasts daily on Cup questions plus any questions that are linked to Cup questions, and whenever the bot’s prediction on an upstream question changes, that change will inform its forecasts on downstream questions. Your network of links becomes the bot's world model.

You’ll be able to watch how the bots stack up in real-time soon. The prize pool will be awarded based on the total Peer Score of your bot vs the baseline bot at the end of the Spring Cup. By definition then, your bot's score in question with no links will be identical to the baseline bot, but hopefully linking the bot to relevant questions will help its performance. We know this will be noisy! But fun!

Start now!

You can create links now and at any point during the tournament. Find the question links section between key factors and background info sections of any given question on the platform (except multiple-choice questions). If you’ve already created links, great! Bot forecasting starts tomorrow.
