Impact assessment is "a means of measuring the effectiveness of organisational activities and judging the significance of changes brought about by those activities",^[1] as well as cost-effectiveness analysis and cost-benefit analysis, which compare impacts and costs. The activities and interventions need not be tied to any specific organization. This could include posts which include impact assessments; which discuss pros, cons, and best practices for impact assessment; or which discuss theories of change or forecasts of impacts, against which measured impacts could later be compared.
