Would love to hear more on the new resources that are being worked on and if AEO/GEO is being considered (i.e. influencing what LLMs will spit out in response to questions about EA)

Thanks for the heads up and for your work on this!
1.2 billion viewing minutes sounds like a lot — I'm curious if you have any estimates on the expected number of unique viewers? Or, any relevant comparisons / thoughts about similar shows and how they were received (e.g. shows which make reference to niche movements or communities and whether salience increased as a result).
No worries if you haven't already considered these questions, but I'm curious if you have! :D
Hi everyone. I lead marketing and communications at CEA. Given the amount of attention we expect The Altruists series to generate, I'm posting a high-level update and introducing myself as a point of contact for questions or coordination.
Later this year, Netflix is expected to release The Altruists, an eight-episode crime drama series telling the story of Sam Bankman-Fried, Caroline Ellison, and the collapse of FTX. It’s produced by Higher Ground Productions (the Obamas' production company) and stars Anthony Boyle as Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner as Ellison.
We don't have advance information about how EA will be portrayed, or how much the series will engage with EA beyond the FTX connection. We’re following developments as they emerge.
We think it’s likely the series will draw a large audience (for comparison, Higher Ground’s Inventing Anna amassed 1.2 billion viewing minutes in its first three days) and generate significant media coverage. If that proves correct, we'd expect more people to hear about effective altruism for the first time (for context, Rethink Priorities estimates genuine EA awareness among US adults to be roughly 1-3%). We see our job as making sure accurate and up-to-date information is easy to find when people search the term. We’re building new resources with that in mind.
We’re also aware of several other FTX-related media projects, including Apple/A24’s film of Michael Lewis's book Going Infinite. We'll share developments on these if they become relevant, but we haven’t seen evidence that any are close to release.
If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or suggestions, feel free to reach out at [email protected]. If you're a journalist, please get in touch with us at [email protected]. I'll post again as the premiere approaches.
I, for one, am excited to see the show when it comes out!
